Read It Privacy Policy

Last updated 18 October 2026

In short: Read It doesn’t collect any personal data. There’s no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your books, reading progress and quiz results stay on your device.

Who we are

Read It is made by Fruity Designs Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17517453), with its registered office at Suite RA01, 195-197 Wood Street, London E17 3NU. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Fruity Designs Limited.

If you have a question about privacy, email [email protected].

What stays on your device

Everything you do in Read It is stored only on your iPhone or iPad:

We can’t see any of this, and it isn’t sent to us or anyone else. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. If you back up your device with iCloud or a computer, Apple may include the app’s data in that backup, under Apple’s privacy policy.

Searching and downloading books

Searching the catalogue happens on your device, so your searches aren’t sent anywhere.

When you download a book or a book cover, the app fetches the file over a secure (HTTPS) connection from a public-domain book library’s server. As with any web request, that server receives your device’s IP address and which file was requested, and it may keep standard server logs under its own policies. The app doesn’t send any account, device identifier or other information about you with these requests.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the one-time purchase are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, your Apple Account or your payment details. Apple gives us sales reports that don’t identify you. Apple’s handling of your purchase is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

To check whether you’ve bought Read It Premium, the app asks Apple’s StoreKit service on your device. That check stays between your device and Apple.

Creating cover art

On devices that support Apple Intelligence, you can create cover art with Image Playground. It runs on your device, and we don’t receive the images or what you typed.

If you email us

If you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it only to reply and help you, which is our legitimate interest in providing support. Emails to our address are passed on by an email forwarding service (ImprovMX) to a mailbox provided by Google. We keep support emails only as long as we need them to help you, and no longer than two years, unless we have to keep them for legal reasons.

Children

Read It doesn’t collect personal data from anyone, including children.

This website

This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics or tracking. It is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses) to keep the site running securely.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR), you have rights over any personal data we hold about you, including the right to see it, correct it or have it deleted. As the app doesn’t collect personal data, these rights will usually only apply to emails you’ve sent us. To use them, email [email protected].

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Read It handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before that version of the app is released.
